For all those who still not have PHP 5 on their servers, I have fixed the famousParse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ on line 15 which means that TubePress.net supports now PHP 4 and above. Still working on WP 2.3 and above compatible version.
About that and since the plugin is already and open source and to be licensed under GNU/GPL, I invited everyone to help out developing this plugin. All contributions will be credited in each plugin release.
Some contributors will even be given authors permissions on this blog to write their own reviews and ideas.
By the way I would like to welcome Viljo Hakala the first contributor to TubePress.net
IMPORTANT: If you already have PHP5 on your server then you don’t need this update
Now you can download the update here

Hi Mario,
I have been playing with tubpress over the past few days – it’s a lovely gadget.
Currently installed v1.5.7 ‘cos server only php at v4.4.4.
Just read your this post and installed the latest.zip v2.6.1(?). which should support php 4.4.4
However the page is not showing any video just plain text :
[tubepress mode='tag', tagValue='Chelsea FC']
It was working fine in the old tubepress version.
Does not this new version support individual tag parameter in each post? Or did I missed out any installn steps?
Thanks.

When I uploaded this new update, this is what comes up for me:
Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: simplexmlelement in /home/content/y/o/g/yogicchai/html/blog/wp-content/plugins/youtube/class.youtube.php on line 164
Any thoughts?

@ricardo: I use simplexmlelement function to parse xml response from youtube. It looks like you don’t have it on your PHP server. I will try to write my own parser and implement it.

@file: Which old tubepress version was working? There have been no major changes recently in TubePress, just some bug fixes and work arounds to meet all hosting requirements.
Which wordpress version do you have? Are you sure tubepress is enabled?
Is it showing a plain text like [DESC]….[/DESC]. If so, it means that TubePress is not enable or you have a very old wordpress version.
Normally, if the import procedure works, then you shouldn’t have any problem.
Let me know if there’s something else I can help you with.

Mario,
I am sure you know by now that the May 9th post that stated she was having success with the previous Tubepress version, was referring to the Eric Hough tubepress plugin.
That one does work just fine, but has some issues that I was hoping to get past in your version.
However, I cannot tell from your blog – is WP 2.3 still the highest compatible version that your plugin works with?
Secondly, Filo mentions that the command for Tag import in the other ver. of TP is [tubepress mode=’tag’, tagValue=’Chelsea FC’]
So, can you be more specific about what command to use to import vids in a post with your version? I could not find this information in any documentation. Thanks.
