I know many of you have been waiting so long for the upgrade of TubePress.Net. Well I must say it took some time
but is finally available for download here.
Major changes:
- Supports PHP 4 and PHP 5
- Supports WordPress 2.2 and above (tested on 2.6): I actually rewrote all the code in a much efficient and better way to keep supporting future releases of WordPress even beyond 2.6
- Added the ability to save the content as pages as well as posts
- Video player customization including, border, related videos and color
- Last by not least, one of the major changes in this new release is the content customization: Added template tags in order to change the look and feel of the content inside your post or page.
- Added an upgrade function to keep backward compatibility with older TubePress versions. Since template tags were not available in older versions, so this function should take care of converting old tags into a standard template.
- Removed the ability to change the setup and layout after importing the videos. However, you can always go into Manage, Posts (or Pages) and Edit them manually.
Note that the plugin should be compatible with any other wordpress plugin available on the web since I got rid of all fancy wordpress filters that other plugins rely on. In short words, TubePress.Net is your solution to create an automatic youtube-like website using WordPress.
I can’t help it not to mention the fact that I’m working on a new feature that allows you to upload videos to youtube from your TubePress admin panel. However I didn’t want to make you wait any longer to complete it so I decided to keep this feature for the next version. Enjoy TubePress and if you find it useful and helpful it would be nice if you consider making a paypal donation to show your support.

Hello Mario,
Thanks for a great plugin (using v3.0)!
I have two feature requests:
1. It would be great if the importing/creation of posts/pages could be automated. Even better would be if I as an admin could set up an interval for the imports (i.e. every 2nd hour).
2. When using “Import By Tag” it would be great to be able to restrict the imported videos to search results that actually match the keyword. For example when importing with the tag “extrememobileblogging” I also get imports for the keyword “extrememobwars” suggested as alternate search by youtube(, which I don’t want).
What do you think about these features?
best regards

and the new release doesn’t check the database if the video is already present?

is there anyway to import the content into a page rather than a single post ?
thanks

@Alin: It seems that the upgrade function didn’t run correctly in your case. I made a fix to make check for older post and upgrade them every time you enter the setup.
It should be fine now, please let me know if you still have issues.
You’re right, the plugin doesn’t check for duplicate videos, however it doesn’t create a confusion for wordpress if you have videos with similar titles.
Anyway, I will try to add it as an option to remove duplications.
@Ashley: Yes! if you take a look at the TubePress setup page, you see that you can define where to put each video (post or page). Choose it, Save the options before you import videos.

OK, Im having the same problems that Alin had only a bit worse. I had the exact thing happen so I deactivated the new version and reactivated the old version… now, none of the pages have videos on them (BTW site is SEOReel dot com). I dont know what to do… Tried re-downloading just now and reactivated new plugin, deactivated old, and still no videos. Now I am back with 2.6 and the site is missing all videos. Please help… Thanks..

@Mark: It’s kind of difficult to distinguish TubePress generated posts from normal posts. Could you please give me a link to a post that is supposed to have TubePress video. You mentioned you have the same problem as Alin, are your old post showing as follows? I didn’t notice any post like that.

Please give me more details about the problem.

Can you make this program work by displaying most relevant video by tags? Say at the end of my post, I want to show the first result for “horses”
I can just do this:
[tubepress]horses[/tubepress]
That would be excellent if you can do it!
There’s another person that did it long time ago, but it’s not working anymore:

Hi,
I download the tubepress.net but cannot run it in my wordpress 2.8. When I activate it, a message appears that says header does not work.

David I have been using it on 2 WP2.8 blogs. You might want to try another theme or try turning off some plugins.
2.8 is very picky about old plugins but this works! At least for me.

Will be possible to instead of inserting the code for the youtube player insert the full youtube URL in a especific custom field?
That way my theme can handle the video, use my own player but I get all the benefits of this awesome plugin.
